They’re never alone when they have a second family.
My name is Tammy Johnson, Houston native, veteran dog rescuer and registered nurse. I was born with a passion for alleviating suffering, both in humans and animals. After 10 years in the trenches, as my experience and knowledge of America’s best friend, Canine familiaris has grown. As has my desire to be among them, a member of the pack, so to speak. As a result, Second Family Pet Services was born. Though we can cover just about anything you may need in relation to your pet, our focus is sitting and walking services in the Northeast part of Houston, which includes Humble and Atascocita.
I want to get to know you, your family and your dog(s). And I would like for you to get to know me. Both humans and dogs have something very important in common, both need trust to establish a relationship. You need to know that you are safe and that I am trustworthy. Wow! This is the same thing that your dog needs! I need to get to know you and your dog(s) particularities, what you enjoy, what you don’t like and respond sensitively to your needs. That’s precisely what Second Family is all about. We want to become a trusted member, a Second Family. Please contact me for a free initial consultation.
Tammy Johnson is a Registered Nurse who has been involved with animals for as long as I have known her. She works with rescues throughout Houston and personally fosters dogs herself. My dog Montana is very temperamental and cannot be placed in a kennel or crate due to his early life. When he first meets someone it is usually a tense time. When Tammy met him she came right up to him and immediately got him to trust her. Her medical experience means that she is aware of when a dog is not feeling well, etc. She has no fear in terms of picking up poop, cleaning a dog’s wound or dealing with a difficult dog. Since she has 6 to 10 fosters at her home at anytime, she can take care of any number without stressing. (The most she has cared for at my home is 2). Personally, I do not think you can go wrong with Tammy.
Tammy has been taking care of my dogs for years….and my dogs are no easy task. When she comes over, she always straightens up and brings the mail in though I have never asked her to do that. Before I met Tammy I was always worried about who might be coming into my home. I never worry for one second because I know she is the safest person around. And the stuff she does with saving dogs! I just can’t imagine how she is able to do that on a day in day out basis.
I have known Tammy for several years being part of the dog rescue community. Throughout the years of knowing her, I have seen her bend over backwards to help a dog in the street that needed to be rescued. Tammy would quickly offer her home in order to get the dog off the street immediately until we were able to bring him or her to a vet. Her dedication to animals is unconditional and admirable.
